Sydney and Hannah both made pigs at the pottery studio, and this is Hannah's below. She's been away from the studio for a couple of years, and it's so hard to believe it's been that long.
The turtle below was done in 2005 (more images on Flickr). I remember watching how she did this: we'd just attached the legs and I saw her pause and mentally weigh how it was all coming together. She reached out and expertly pinched off bits of the legs at the ends, because they were too long, and with the same confident motion, poked two quick eyes in its head. It was then set aside and she moved on to making the next animal. It feels like an absurd thing to be recounting, but I've always been envious of how children draw, and the ease of their decision making as the pieces progress.
