Salon's art director, Bob Watts, died this year of cancer on January 3rd. After he passed away, we discovered he'd kept sketchbooks crammed full of notes, recipes, and drawings, and I was very happy when Lori, Bob's wife, recently sent me a cd of the artwork in those sketchbooks. We're all in need of something else on which to focus this week, and it just seems like a great time to publish a few pages from Bob's notebooks.
So today, and over the next 6 days on OpenSalon, these posts are for an old friend, who would have wanted to be at his computer, grinding this one out with us.

My dog Pie (above, right) died on March 19, 2007, and I was so touched to discover that Bob memorialized him. The drawing is from a photo of Pie melting on a really hot day.
