Koala with chewed ear
Sometimes it's just not the best choice of crayon. Other times it's boredom. I didn't ask why this drawing was abandoned, and that headline embellishment is all mine.
In the movie "Six Degrees Of Separation," a kindergarten teacher was asked how she was able to elicit such lovely pieces of art from her young charges, and her simple response was that she knew when to take the paintings away. There's a little of that in most parents I think, especially if the parent is an artist. We learn very quickly to hold our tongue and to not get attached to any one piece. What I do is ask if I could scan it before she does anything else, and I've only done that once or twice in the past 2 months, returning very quickly to my lone function of Head Cheerleader.
