A no-frills popup for kids

Popups

You'll need: A blank card, a strip of moderately stiff paper about one inch deep and about one inch less than the width of your unopened card, and some glue.
1. Fold both ends of the paper strip under to form half-inch inch tabs
2. Score strip in the middle (see diagram for direction of score)
3. Open card and lay card and strip flat, centering the strip vertically in the card. Align score on strip with centerfold of card, making sure that score projects outwards as on the diagram
4. Glue tabs and let dry flat, checking to see that score and centerfold are still aligned
5. Glue art onto the half of the strip that faces you when card is opened. Art should fall within the dotted box in the diagram above: it must be offset a bit from the left edge and can extend up, down and beyond the score. Test to make sure that it stays within the card when folded.

Rooster: I've noticed that kids and parents both really like Mrs. Johnson's classes: Moms get something they can keep, and the kids love whatever they come out with.
